New Zealand Announces Positive Visa Updates for International Students
New Zealand has introduced several new visa updates aimed at supporting international students and improving post-study work opportunities. These changes make the country an increasingly attractive destination for students planning to study abroad.
✅ New 6-Month Short-term Graduate Work Visa
Students completing NZQCF Level 5–7 programmes who are not eligible for a Post Study Work Visa can now apply for a 6-month Short-term Graduate Work Visa to gain valuable work experience in New Zealand.
✅ Expanded Post Study Work Visa Eligibility
Students who complete a Graduate Diploma (Level 7) and already hold a Bachelor’s degree—even from outside New Zealand—are now eligible to apply for a Post Study Work Visa.
✅ Up to 1-Year Post Study Work Visa
Graduate Diploma graduates may receive up to 1 year Post Study Work Visa, depending on their study duration in New Zealand.
Programmes That Remain Ineligible
The following programmes still do not qualify for a Post Study Work Visa:
- English Language Programmes
- Foundation Programmes
- Bridging Programmes
Why This Matters
With flexible visa options, strong post-study work opportunities, and a welcoming environment, New Zealand continues to attract international students from around the world, including Bangladesh.
